1970 Chevrolet K5 Blazer
All new body bushings in 2013/body off-frame restoration
2014 drivetrain upgrade:
Newly rebuilt 700r4 transmission with overdrive
NP208 transfer case
New prop shaft and driveshaft
(Drivetrain work under a 100,000 mile warranty with receipts – ASE certified transmission shop.)
2017 engine upgrade:
L31 HD Vortec 350-newly manufactured engine-NOT a rebuild. 4-bolt main, 1-piece rear seal, Vortec Heads, hydraulic roller cam. This is a factory GM crate engine with warrantee, not something slapped together. FI tech fuel injection system.
New front brake rotors and pads in 2018 (front wheels have disk brakes). Cragar wheels. Newer BF Goodrch A/T tires with 90% tread remaining. New leaf springs/bushings in 2017
Body:
No Rot whatsoever. The paint is OK, the worst part is above the wheel arch on the front passenger fender (pictured). I lived in Louisiana at the time and the extreme heat seemed to have an effect on “bubbling” that area up. Underneath the paint I found no rust, so I imagine it was the result of poor paint prep in that area. I stabilized the bubbling as it was, because I was getting married in a few weeks and the K5 was my “just got married” car. Numerous paint imperfections/chips, and I attempted to picture them. Glass is all perfect. Weather stripping is good.
I have a 1970 GM Restoration Parts aluminum grille shell new in box that could be included with the sale. This is the grille shell with “Chevrolet” stamped/painted in the shell, not the crappy one with stickers.
Softtopper top is in great shape
Eletrical/accessories:
Headlights received the relay upgrade, so they shine nice and bright. Headlight color is normal, not blue.
Cobra 29 LTD classic CB is ingeniously mounted in the truck and works great; the antenna has a foldover feature for the tailgate. Pioneer DMR radio with Brother’s trucks billet radio bezel. I had the Retrosound stuff before and it was crap. Here is a radio that works, and has phone connectivity for those that want it. It plays music off of flash drives, and I’ll hook up the buyer with some good tunes for the trip home. Small simple alpine amplifier installed behind the glovebox-you’d never know it was there. The amp is good for clear music at highway speeds.
Dakota Digital VHX gauge cluster, GPS speedometer, Compass/outside air module, and gear shift in-dicator. Everything is displayed through the gauge cluster. Everything works, and the dakota digital system is fantastic, all manuals are included.
Seats are out of a 2000 GMC Yukon. Rear seat is a Yukon 3rd row, and is tool-free removable, just like it was in a 2000 Yukon. All seats are leather and in good shape. The rear seat leather is a lighter grey than the front, but all plastic trim is exactly the same color. The seat covers are CoverKing, and they did not hold up very good at all. The front seats are heated but not wired up. The driver’s seat is powered. Passenger seat expertly modified to allow easy rear seat access.
Carpet in good shape. Custom rear interior panels made from treated plywood and professionally up-holstered-much nicer than the reproduction cardboard.
The Blazer has always been garaged.
Why am I selling it?
I am trying to finish building my house, and I’ve started a family. I love this truck, but it is now worth too much to be sitting in the garage. I drive it at least once a week because I don’t like vehicles to sit. That said, I don’t have time to have fun with the truck anymore, and I’d rather see this truck be taken to shows/cruises and enjoyed.
Actual mileage unknown. 10000 miles on the transmission, and the engine has 8,000 miles on it.
I pride myself with keeping the Blazer in great mechanical condition. It is extremely reliable, and ready to drive cross-country today, no trailer needed! I took it on a 1,500 mile round trip in its current configuration, and I had no issues whatsoever. If you don’t like the price make me an offer. All pictures taken in September 2021. Clean Title.
